Since the very beginning, it has been the mission of Nina Simone Birthplace Project and later the Bountiful Neighborhood Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization BnESCO to restore this house and the surrounding site in a manner which will bring visitors year round to learn about the early life of Eunice K. Waymon, her family and the community that nurtured her earliest talent. In pursuit of this goal, BnESCO will implement programs to make the Nina Simone Birthplace a place where history comes alive through education and entrepreneurial job training, music, drama, crafts, community work, and fun to intermingle contemporary daily life with the African American neighborhood experience in Tryon, North Carolina during the 1930's. This goal provides a path forward for community revitalization, renewal and rejuvenation as a center for African American socio-economic studies in the foothills of Blue Ridge Mountains.
