Much progress has been made on the front porch after the replacing of the front sill plates and rim boards. The ca. late 1940's concrete steps have been removed and the house now sits on new brick piers. Mrs. Ruth (King) Porter who still lives across the street has provided great insight into how the porch appeared in the 1930's. She said the front steps were broad and made of wood. "You could see through them," she said. She remembers playing "dolls" on the steps with Dorothy Waymon. She said they would sit their dolls on the steps and every now and then they would fall through. The porch itself she said, "Had two simple planks as a railing."
