Not far south of Polk County, NC in Spartanburg County, SC along Hwy 9 is the turn off to the Little Africa Community. Carrol said, "I've always wanted to see Little Africa!" He remember his mother and father visiting and he and his bothers helping his father deliver dry cleaning to the community. The turn off Hwy 9 is sharp and steep. The community sits atop a large flat crest that receives the full force of weather events that pour out of the mountains and across the foothills some twenty miles away above and behind Tryon, NC.
